Days after an Uptown Michael Myers mannequin reportedly remained motionless while absorbing heavy gunfire during an attempted vehicle burglary, sources say the figure is now being quietly considered for a position within the New Orleans Police Department.
Officials cited the mannequin’s ability to stay composed under pressure, maintain posture during a chaotic incident, and avoid escalating the situation through unnecessary movement or remarks.
“In this city, calm matters,” said a senior municipal personnel adviser familiar with the discussion. “You want somebody who can take heat, stay steady, and not make things worse.”
The mannequin’s rigid fiberglass frame and expressionless mask were also said to be viewed as assets, with insiders noting the candidate projects authority, gives little away emotionally, and would require minimal retraining for most public-facing duties.
The mannequin first drew public attention after suspects allegedly opened fire on a parked truck when startled by its presence in the passenger seat. Witnesses say the figure neither flinched nor retaliated.
“That kind of discipline is hard to teach,” said one veteran law enforcement recruiter, noting the department has “looked at candidates with far less to offer.”
While no formal offer has reportedly been made, insiders say the mannequin has already advanced further than several recent applicants by simply showing up, staying in place, and surviving the screening process.
The mannequin was reportedly weighing multiple offers in both public service and private security, where sources said its ability to remain still, reveal nothing, and unsettle the public had made it a highly sought-after candidate.
