Corruption, smiles uncovered at Office of Motor Vehicles in Lakeview

Concluding a day’s long investigation, the New Orleans Office of Inspector General has uncovered deep seeded corruption in the Office of Motor Vehicles location in Lakeview.

According to an unnamed source close to the investigation, four OMV employees at the Lakeview branch are shown on tape repeatedly being courteous, and even helpful, to customers for driver’s license renewals and vehicle licenses.

The investigation began when a supervisor noticed customers leaving in less than three hours and lines being kept at only one-tenth of total capacity. “Some [customers] were even smiling,” reported the source.

The OMV declined to comment on the situation but did issue the following statement via email:

“The Office of Motor Vehicles has worked tirelessly over the decades to become the leading bureaucracy it is today and to develop and maintain the reputation it has. A lot of taxpayer money has gone into this effort, and we take seriously any attempt to hinder this work.”

The Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) on Veterans Boulevard in New Orleans is under investigation for alleged ethical infractions to the surprise of appreciative customers.

Initial reports show there is no evidence of happy customers anywhere else across Greater New Orleans to implicate other OMV locations in the scandal.

The source said the inspector general has recommended the four OMV employees at the center of the scandal be reprimanded, lose one morning and both afternoon coffee breaks for 90 days, and be forced to undergo insensitivity training.
