After watching dozens of local meteorologists deliver updates on the storms bearing down on Greater New Orleans, legendary former WVUE Fox 8 weatherman Bob Breck has begrudgingly decided it is time to accept his life as a retiree and hunker down like everyone else.
According to Breck’s wife Brenda, Bob has built a man cave where he can colorfully entertain friends and guests as he did for decades on TV.
“He calls it…” Brenda said as she lowered and shook her head while pausing for a moment, “The… Manetarium.”
Breck started working on his man cave about a month before retiring last year, devoting many late nights to getting it just right. According to Breck, he is planning on soon starting a YouTube channel to deliver his very own weathercasts straight from his man cave and tonight is just the beginning.
“I’m hunkering down and everyone is invited!” Breck said with a gleeful shriek. “Oh, and there’s a flash fun watch in effect at my place through midnight! Woof!”
Breck, who has never hunkered down at his home due to his reporting on every major storm for decades, said he is excited to enter the next phase of his life despite occasional urges to get back in front of the camera whenever it begins raining, the wind picks up or someone asks how his week has been.
“This is my first hunkering, so I’m really excited to see what goes on…” a distracted Breck said before excitedly showing off his extremely large collection of Troll dolls.
Breck noted that his longtime toupee, which he famously partnered with for over 25 years, sadly will not be attending the hunkering.
“It’s always welcomed here but right now its schedule doesn’t permit it to come,” Breck said. “From what I hear, it’s doing really well since the band broke up. It’s working a big gig for Nic Cage. And I think that’s pretty neat, ha-who!”
According to a survey conducted by Neutral Ground News, 97% of New Orleanians would absolutely love to hunker down with the adorable weather authority.
“It’s always kind of scary to hunker down,” said Metairie resident Chip Bellanger. “But with Bob, I don’t know, I’m kind of looking forward to it. Okay, really looking forward to it.”
