Legendary New Orleans Saints play-by-play broadcaster Jim Henderson is calling it a career after 31 years behind the microphone. But will his Muppets be tagging along?
Henderson, who revealed his surprise retirement on Thursday, did not touch on the future of his Muppets nor make any mention of them in the announcement. It comes as no surprise that this has raised concerns over the status of the ensemble’s upcoming projects and overall fate.
The Muppets, who are currently scheduled to headline PuppetPalooza this March and star in a reboot of the popular 80s TV show Muppet Babies, could not be reached for comment.
Even those closest to Henderson were evasive when questioned about the future of the Muppets.
“I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about,” said one longtime friend of the New Orleans icon who refused to be identified.
Another source retorted: “What? You must be confused.”
While the Muppets have appeared in multiple television series, films, and other media appearances since the 1950s is 2018 their curtain call? Only Jim knows for sure and it doesn’t look like he will be dropping the ball anytime soon.
